Sunday Post #93: New month, new games!

Posted March 6, 2022 by Angie in Sunday Post / 6 Comments

Last week started with the return of perfect weather! It was sunny, but not too bright. In the mid-70s. No wind, just a light breeze. So nice! Of course, this means I was able to walk the doggies. Fiona is very happy to be out and about. Scarlet still tries to go home after ten minutes. But we need the fresh air and exercise. It really is such a great mood booster in the morning. We did get a little bit of much needed rain on Thursday though.

I only bought one game last week: Wuppo! It looks super fun and I was cracking up at the story of the MC getting kicked out for making a mess with ice cream. I don’t know when I’ll get to it, but it’s been added to my ever-growing collection of quirky games. Then I also played two free visual novels on Steam: Carpe Diem and Doki Doki Literature Club. Reviews coming soon!

I beat Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle! Yes! That game is so much fun! I’m definitely going to have to get the DLC, which essentially doubles the size of the game and is Donkey Kong themed! It appears to go on sale for half-off pretty frequently, so I’ll wait for that.

In the meantime, I did start playing My Time at Portia, which I assumed was a real time game like Animal Crossing or Cozy Grove. It’s not; it’s more like Sims time, which is cool. This game is so busy! There is so much that needs to be done! These townies don’t ease you in, starting you off with some simple tasks. Nope, they jump right in! I actually kind of like that, because it forced me to really explore and learn right away.

Then my copy of Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze arrived! It originally said 5-6 weeks, then said it was arriving on Tuesday, but it came last Thursday! Obviously, I started playing immediately! Donkey Kong has always been my favorite game series, so I was beyond eager to get my hands on this one. It’s a little weird to me that this is the only DK game for Switch and it’s not even an original game. Does no one love DK like I do!?

As for Little Nightmares, I went back to it when I had gotten stuck during M+RKB, and beat the part I had gotten stuck on the other week. Yay! I made it through a couple more rooms, then got stuck again, so I went back and finished M+RKB. Sadly, I was very much distracted by DKCTF, so I didn’t get back to it last week.

  1. Oh Doki Doki is nuts!! I loved that game! I hope you enjoyed it! I used to play Donkey Kong games all the time! Then this weekend I saw you were playing this new game and it piqued my interest. Let me know what you think of it and if it’s worth the buy!

I’ve recently become obsessed with anything Space Janitor related 😆 I thought the books were a lot of fun! Cozy mysteries set in space were not something I thought I needed in my life, but I definitely do! Lol. I hope you enjoy The Vacuum of Space!

    • Doki Doki was wild!!! I am definitely playing it again to follow a different path! And Donkey Kong is super fun! It’s quite hard though, but I can’t put it down! I love being able to play as Funky Kong. 🙂

I totally grabbed the first Space Janitor book because I saw you enjoyed the series! Hopefully I like it too!

  2. OMG! So I was watching my brother play Litte Nightmares on Wednesday this week and I could never play that game. I swear, I was so anxious just watching! He was at the part where the kid is trying to get past this awful teacher. He was stuck when I was watching and that teacher (or the kids in the classroom!!!) killed him over and over. Nightmares is right!

    I hope you’re having a great week!

    • Oh, that’s Little Nightmares 2! I don’t have it yet, but I will once I finish this one. But I totally had nightmares the first few nights I played it. I can’t watch horror movies, but for some reason I love this game!
