I really enjoyed this authors Bared to the Elements series, so I started this one to help fill the alien romance hole in my life. It’s pretty good, but not as good as her other series. It’s a bit darker, but not in a bad way, just completely different.

This series focuses heavily on human sex slavery, so if that is not your jam, I’d suggest skipping this series. There’s also mentions of rape, as some of the main characters and side characters have been sexually and physically abused by their owners. There’s also quite a bit of dubious consent as the women are paired with their owners or protectors. I personally enjoy dubious consent, but obviously, everyone is different.

The books are all connected, but I do think they can be read as standalones if you don’t like certain tropes and want to skip around. It’s mostly that the aliens know each other and are referenced in following/previous books, not necessarily plot points. There is a minor continuous plot about a planet being destroyed and dangerous technology, but it’s mostly in the background.

My favorite of these first five was Deb and the Demon, which surprised me as Deb starts the book pregnant by her previous owner. She is purchased as a slave to start with but Rastrath frees her immediately and the two fall in love. While I don’t like pregnancy, I do like lactation fetish, which this one has. I know, I’m weird. Whatever.

Like I said, these are pretty good. Nothing mind blowing, but a fun way to pass a couple of hours. They’re definitely quick, easy reads.
