Naomi has spent her entire profits from her farm's yield for a fertility shot. She wants a baby to ease some of the loneliness of life at the edge of the universe. Unfortunately for her, the donor she had lined up can't finish the job. What's a lonely, ovulating human to do?

This one heads to the Port Custodial office and asks for help from the military custodian on duty.

Brawny but awkward Ainar isn't sure why this human is insisting on needing his help for sleeping, but he's happy to assist someone as delicate and pretty as the human colonist. And when he figures out what she really wants...well.

Surely this is a dream come true.

I’ll admit that I was quite a bit hesitant going into When She’s Pregnant simply based on the title…and the cover. I am not a pregnancy/baby person, even in Romances, but…yes, big but, there’s something about Ruby Dixon’s books that make it all okay. I mean, 99% of her books are essentially alien breeder stories, and this is no exception. In fact, this is probably the most “breeder” book of them all, as Naomi has used her entire savings on fertility treatments and only has a week to get pregnant. So what does she do? Walks into the Port Custodial Office and asks the only officer on duty to knock her up! Yep. Ridiculous.

When She’s Pregnant is super adorable! Ainar is the absolute cutest, sweetest, cuddliest mate in the universe! He was so nervous when Naomi approached him, but also excited. They are a great pair! I also really liked how the author tackled power dynamics and trauma here. Ainar tends to come on strong, and his boss reminds him that all of these women came from bad circumstances and may feel like they can’t say no, so he immediately backs off. Obviously, Naomi wants him since this is ultimately a Romance novella. Just super cute all around.

Sharing is caring!
