December 2021 in Review

Posted January 3, 2022 by Angie in Monthly Recap / 4 Comments

Wow, all twelve months of 2021 have come and gone!

Last month, I read a total of 24 books! Not as many as I hoped, but I had already far surpassed my yearly reading goal, so I wasn’t really trying to read a ton. December was the month where I finally decided to get through the books that I added to Goodreads way back in 2013 though! It feels great to be clearing these older books from my shelves. Eventually, I’d love to just have new releases, in-progress series, and new-to-me author back lists on my to-read. Something easy to keep up with.

I’m trying to be much more discerning with books that I add. Not every amazing sounding book is something I actually want to read. For instance, I’ve learned that I am not a High Fantasy fan. Not that I never enjoy them, but I generally only give them 2-3 stars. Same with “issues” books. Their blurbs always get me super excited, but the books themselves leave me underwhelmed. Romance and Urban Fantasy are where my heart truly lies.

  1. What a great reading month! Oh man, you keep reminding me I need to get back to those Rachel Vincent books. And I have now added some more Japanese language learning books to my tbr… definitely in need of those. Lol. Hope you are having a great new year!

    • I’m pleasantly surprised by the amount of Japanese books my library has. It’s small compared to the other languages, but I’ve been finding some very helpful ones!

Gah if I ever get there though, I don't think I'll know what to do with myself, I've been behind for a decade at least lol! It's smart to be more discerning in adding books – I need to work on that. I also really just need to cull my list of books I really don't want to read, even if I did buy them.
