Backlists, Diversity, Series Catchup, and Library Love: More 2022 Reading Challenges!

Posted December 30, 2021 by Angie in Discussion / 0 Comments

I already signed up for COYER Seasons 2022, but I miss doing a variety of challenges, so here are four more reading challenges for next year!

The Backlist Reading Challenge

Hosted by The Bookwyrm’s Hoard

Goal: Read books added to my to-read shelf and that were published in 2020 or earlier. I’d like to, at the very least, clear out the books I added in 2014. After that, I’ll work on 2015! I also need to read some books that I bought in 2011-2014, so I’ll be making a dent in those as well.

Diversity Reading Challenge

Hosted by Celebrity Readers

Goal: Read books by authors and with main characters who are not the typical cis-het-straight-neurotypical-etc-etc. I do pretty well with this in general, but I can do better. In 2021, 47.78% of the books I read would be considered “diverse.” I’d like to get to at least 50% in 2022! I’d also like to complete each of the monthly challenges, even if I don’t get to them in their scheduled months.

Finishing the Series Reading Challenge

Hosted by Celebrity Readers

Goal: Finish or catch-up with series started before 2022. I’m aiming for the A-List level, which is 9+ series!

Library Love Challenge

Hosted by Angel’s Guilty Pleasures and Books of My Heart

Goal: Read books from the library! I’ve been a constant library patron for over a decade now, and I don’t think that will change any time soon! I’m going for the Library Card on Fire level which is 60+ books! In 2021, I read 166 library books which was 38.8% of my reading! Clearly, I love my library. It’s normally a higher percentage, but I also had a KU membership for most of the year that I was making use of.

Are you joining any reading challenges in 2022? Tell me which ones!

Sharing is caring!
